From Heather:
“Dr. Robinette says Dad’s white blood cell (germ-killer reservist) count has risen somewhat, so he ordered blood cultures and urinalysis and started Dad on antibiotic tonight and chest and abdominal CT for tomorrow. The #1 “differential diagnosis” would be pneumonia, even with little cough and lungs sounding close to the same as earlier…
Poor guy, this is not a fun time for him. But he hasn’t complained much.”
Heather and Dane and Joan have been visiting. Chena visited too. Niilo was not perky, as we say. Oy.

Alaskan Friends gathered in Juneau this past weekend for Spring Quarterly, and Niilo was frequently brought into the circle of worship and held in the Light. We met at Echo Ranch, a beautiful site which afforded opportunities for whale watching, bird identification, and hiking (most of us hiked the 2 miles in and out, while our luggage and those who couldn’t do the hike rode in the boat). Since Niilo was such an important part of the Juneau meeting during his time in the legislature as well as being a founding member of the Alaska Friends Conference, his presence was felt. Our group is small, and sometimes we feel discouraged about all the work there is to do, but when we remember how this group started and what it has accomplished in the past, especially in the area of Native land claims, we take heart. Thank you, Niilo, for being such a good “pattern and example” (in George Fox’s terms).
