Is it due to the ongoing overcast and rain and subsequent fewer outings that there seems to be a little less energy, or something else?
Thank goodness Joan and Niilo chose to homestead on top of a hill rather than along the river – despite the problems for horse carriages and trains – At least the house is dry…whereas numerous families along the local rivers have been flooded, as has the whole town of Nenana.
Koponens have made it past bad colds and are carrying on with puzzles, knitting, meals, news, occasional outings, and Dad stayed for Friends Meeting with Attention to Business today.
Tuesday was stunningly beautiful. Mountains and blue sky and just about everything we love about August 12th was present. Blueberries are abundant in select places (remember Alaska Blues, folks? Tart for some, the best for some….) and the raspberries, by most accounts, are great just about everywhere.
Wish Dad could hike some almost forgotten railroad bed, but it is not to be. He’s a grand old guy and his life has been rich. Heard at Alzheimer’s Support Group today that some folks think blueberries are the “next best thing” for Alz, so let’s eat all we can. Dad has been into blueberries and wild fish and more for quite a long time, so I don’t think the answers are all in. Maybe the acai and blueberry and fish are phantom look-fors and we just have to do what we can when we can…..
Yes, almost over the colds, knitting for Joan and her helpers (we unravel her productions for another go but this is a secret so don’t tell) is an interesting pasttime, Niilo still into salmon just about every night (also a don’t tell but hub Gary also a wild salmon eater: some of us getting way done with that scene!), and Thanks SO Much Friends for helping Heather and the family with some time off. We need you, community, and appreciate your support.
Much love, Chena
