This was a spirited campaign with a well known Fairbanks businessman who was a one term incumbent as competition.<\/p>\n<p>I was not so much running against my competition (who is a friend of mine), but because I&#8217;d been involved as a co-op member for several decades, believe in the cooperative model and have both the expertise and time to devote to helping set policy and direction for this $250 million non-profit organization. <\/p>\n<p>My mom, who died last year at the age of 94, would also have been proud as she raised me to get involved in making the world a better place.
